LEQ: How do I use the peer editing checklist to help improve my writing?
Lesson Activities/Assignments
Students will work with three other students throughout the period to peer edit their typed informative/explanatory essay. (End of the unit summative for county curriculum map unit 1.)
Each student will be given a peer edit checklist to use when working on their essays. Students should apply Language principles/skills addressed throughout Unit 1 in their own writing and others in order to demonstrate understanding and mastery.
Students will create a writing portfolio to document pros and cons of the first writing sample.
Tuesday:
Students will begin research on their argumentative essay:
Using the big question, can all conflicts be resolved, decide whether or not humans can be replaced by machines. Students will use the laptops to research articles Using the All in one workbook pg. 42, students will document research.

Students will complete Tree Map for a grade. The Tree Map should informally include the topic, claim, evidence, citation, transition sentence and counterclaim.
