Poetry
Students will be reading and writing poetry to determine the meaning of words and phrases used when reading and writing poetry.
Students took a pre-test to introduce and review words used in poetry. Students will also use a worksheet provided by the teacher to outline poetry terms introduced in a power point. (Ask to see your child's notes!)
Students will be reading selected poetry in the literature book and will be using warm up activities to show understanding of texts selected. Students will also continue to work in their CLOSE reading workbooks to annotate and pull out key ideas and details, craft and structure used by the author and integration of knowledge and ideas.
The summative assessment used in this unit will include writing their own poem. Guidelines and rubrics will be administered to students.
