UEQ/LEQLEQ: How do I use CLOSE reading focus to show understanding? (Facts and Opinion & Word choice)
Lesson Activities/AssignmentsI do: Teacher will readdress the UEQ question pg. 246.
We do together: Students will be introduced to the vocabulary. (Bottom of the pg. 246.)
Students do Independently: Students will read pg. 246 and 247.Students will read modeled CLOSE reading.
I do: Teacher will read Walt Whitman's poem on page 248. Refer to TE pg. 249 #2 1 & 2 249.
Students do independently: Students will read pg. 249-252. After reading, students will do pg. 88 Vocabulary Builder.

UEQ/LEQUEQ: How is active and passive voice used?
Lesson Activities/AssignmentsI do: Students will open their books to pg. 254. Teacher will read conventions: active and passive voice and read the examples in the chart.
We do together: Teacher will ask students to identify the answers as a whole group. Practice A and B pg. 254
I do: Teacher will give students their HW pg. 89. Teacher will read top of WS to review the definition of active and passive voice. Review chart. Students will put WS away and prepare for daily work. Students will need L&L book pg. 253.
I do: Teacher will introduce pg. 253. CLOSE reading activities. Each strategy is defined in heading.
Students will label each section on their own paper and answer questions Q to A. (Write answers by rewriting the question in the answer.)
Homework: WS pg. 89 Active and Passive Voice

All other periods will do the enrichment activity WS. Basic Questions of Astronomy. Students will need computers to research answers.
