WE DO: Students will read the reading model on pg.5. Ask questions whole group on pg. 5 TE.
You do together: Review the Writing Model an Excerpt from Isak Dinsen's "Peter and Rosa."
You DO: Independently: Students will make a flip book using CLOSE reading requirements.
HOT Question: Where is the symbolism in the story?

Have students read the writing model on pg. 8. (Argument) Read the annotations to analyze how the writer uses evidence to support her ideas.
Students will listen to An Hour with Abuloe. As they listen, I will do a stop and check to show how CLOSE reading strategies can be used in this selection.
After listening to the selection, students will get in groups.according to their areas of weakness shown on the FSA data sheets.
Each group will look at the activities shown on pg. 13. The groups will only answer questions and discuss the activities according to areas of weakness. The students will present their answers to the whole class in a whole group setting.
